I’ve just read the new features guide and found something about exporting fbx. Check out page 124, you can export all the axes present in the scene. I haven’t tried this yet.

If it doesn’t work for you, I’d try this:

You have an animated axis (let’s call it AX) with a camera (CAM) below it.
Drag a new camera(NEWCAM) into the scene and write up the following expression to each channel of NEWCAM:
    to position.x AX.position.x+CAM.position.x
    position.y AX.position.y+CAM.position.y
    .
    .
    .

    hope this helps

Why don’t you add the channels of the parent axis to the camera’s channels? Just a simple expression…

    Hey Andy,

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to perfectly undistort the grid. I drew splines on all lines, undistorted it, but the result wasn’t straight… It was better, but far from perfect. Any idea?

Thanks man. It turned out that the workflow was completely broken from the beginning and every clip started from 01:00:00:00 in Avid. Anyway, I’ve learnt a lot from this lesson.:) And I was dreaming about xml workflow recently…

I only would like to see a proper cmx 3600 edl containing RED shots. This would help me a lot in the future. Could you copypaste one for me please?

The one thing to note, after you have your track and have recorded your autopaint strokes is to take the autopaint record timeline bar and drag it so the head and tail are both on frame 1. That way it will do all the autopaint strokes per-frame. Otherwise you’ll get a traditional autopaint where it does a little bit per frame, which is useless for this technique.

Thanks andy. I’ll try it next time.

    Hey Andy,

Just a quick question. Why do you use autopaint for marker removal? Why not offsetting with front source in action? Autopaint seems to be much slower and less flexible for me.
I’m just curious because I can’t see the idea behind autopaint+tracking.

    Thanks.

Well, posting RED is a kind of science, but you have few days left.:) There are dedicated courses on this topic on fxphd, this is not a quick tip like thing.
You can edit the so called QuickTime wrappers natively in FCP. I don’t know how many shots you will have, but two days is really tight if you’re a newbie in RED.
I would strongly recommend you to download some example footage from the net (there are pretty much around) and do some tests with FCP, before doing anything. Or just hire someone who knows what to do.

You will need to install a QT codec and REDalert as well. You might want to visit http://www.reduser.net as well.

Hope this’ll be a good starting point for you.

Or alternatively there is an anonymous key surrounded with Shift, Ctrl and Windows icon on the right side. You can find a pop-up menu like icon on it. Just hit it when you move the cursor over any parameter like Samples. A little menu will turn up with all the option you can use.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Andy. This is the answer I was looking for!:)
I got perfect result with Kronos! Noise is the only difference.:)
It’s weird that normal TW can’t do this perfectly. It’s one of the simplest job in retiming.

Thanks. But I forgot to mention that the footage is progressive for some reason. It was converted at least once. :S When I told my doubts about the footage, the guy simply said that we (PAL guys) aren’t get used to this look… so you say that it isn’t normal at all?
