November 21, 2007 at 2:03 pm in reply to: Compositing shadows over an animated scene? Newbie help! #216310David StewartParticipantI’ve had nice results in the past using a deform or bicubic to warp the matte of the keyed character to match the objects the shadow will be cast over. Then once i have a matte that is warped to represent the way the shadow would be cast in reality I bring the background through this warped matte as a fill and cc it starting with my highs then moving to mids then lows.
David StewartParticipantPersonally I think you are better to learn on the job. Find a facility with a good senior guy that is willing to take time to teach you theory as well as how to use the machine.
David StewartParticipanti used to get the same error but it seems to work now. Im using firefox latest version.
No idea why its working now though 🙂
David StewartParticipantI worked with a guy that did a job in a ds and halfway through creating his treatment he took a photo of the output monitor, ingested the image and kept comping from there.
I’m sure you can imagine how the other DS artist felt when he had to go and revise it and spent a few hours trying to work out what the hell was going on 🙂
David StewartParticipantVery nice. Lots of cool kaleidoscope style instancing examples.
David StewartParticipantThats the one.
David StewartParticipantThanks for the reply Albert. In retrospect i guess the systems board should have been my first port of call.
I just did a quick test and that solution seems to work well. The masks are renamed and system seems to be stable. I’ll post if it recurs, but in the meantime looks like i can get stuck back into these shots.
Cheers
JimmyDavid StewartParticipantThere you go…you may have found your next “down time
project (if there actually is such a thing as down time. I heard someone talking about it once…)David StewartParticipantI’d love to see a copy of that document if you can lay your hands on it…
David StewartParticipantCheck out this link:
David StewartParticipantapparently they don’t work with all necessary frequencies.
David StewartParticipantNo worries 😉
David StewartParticipantThis isn’t Mike 🙂 Mike is who i was talking to. Its late at night there though.
