are you sure you do not break any NDA´s here???

Good Luck in finding a good artist!

Well the installed seats have increased dramatically. not sure how many of those folks are actually using Toxik.

I´m afraid you are quite right. Let´s see what happens in the next time………..

summerJParticipantWell it is not really given away for free. you just can´t buy it standalone anymore. same with maya btw. i would not put to much in cmb anymore. toxik will be developed in the future, combustion is out of dev for a longer time now and i don´t think it will ever see a 64 bit OS. I would recommend looking into toxik and don´t regret cmb if you wanna stay with adsk.

summerJParticipanti wouldn´t use timeX at all. i can be very destructive to a script. i would duplicate the filein and only load a single frame – in your case 100.

summerJParticipanthi guys,
thanks for your thoughts. i just wanted to check the perception of that tool in general. i´m with toxik since beta 1.0 so i saw that coming a loooong way. at the moment, with 2009 and 2010 on its way where you can say the tool does what we need, but cause of lack in perception it is hard to commit to the tool. as michael said, freelancers are hard to get cause they think they waste time on learning it, cause nobody is using it. for now i see it more as an “inhouse tool”. lets hope autodesk does something about pr/marketing to gain market. i think it is a good tool, otherwise i would be with it after all that time. but it looks like my feelings and doubts about it are shared.thanks, nanuk

you need maya and txk on the same machine when you wanna import ma files, cause txk will need to pull up maya for some seconds.
you really should try 2009. it is a huge differnce!!!!!!! the 2d/3d interop has made a big leap.

thx
summerJParticipanthi luis,
when you come from combustion try to lose abit this layer thinking. i know it is kinda hard switching this in your way of thinking. you have layers in toxik as well, but it is not the main concept of bringing stuff together. try to think more in channels and single operation which you wanna do and then: do i really need a “layer” (layer/timeline) for this? reaction and paint (as you can use it as a photoshop way compositing) can be good to gather alot of footage. but they dont have to!
cool to see another cmb guy getting intoxikated. 🙂cheers,
nanuk

Hi,
How do I parent layers inside reaction?
i would do that by adding another axis – would be flame style
@Luis 27397 wrote:
and how to set a layer as alpha channel of other layer (also inside Reaction node)?
THANKS!!
doubt you can do that. you wanna do stencil layer from combustion right? you will have to get your layer in a reaction and after that grab your alpha with a “set alpha”.
hope that helps,
nanuk
