Saran SirikasamsapParticipant
what we need is backdraft off a linux laptop linked to fibre SANs maybe ?
Saran SirikasamsapParticipanti think the options’ right inside the edl manager.
Saran SirikasamsapParticipantfinally a positive answer from someone. 🙂

I still keep my copy of c4 with me on every freelance gig, just in case.
Additionally, I have become more versed in AE and Motion out of necessity.
As combustion runs better under Windows than it does on Mac….I’ve been toying with running it under Parallels and similar configurations.
Essentially, as computers get faster and as long as you have access to the “OS” you need….you can potentially run combustion right along side other apps.
The big limitations will be color space support and 32 bit memory addressing.
But honestly, in most instances where combustion fits as a tool, it hasn’t affected me yet.
It is just so perfect in such a wide variety of situations, it’s hard to let go.

Saran SirikasamsapParticipantisnt that working fine now ? i remember earlier there were always problems with versions not matching between maya/flame or maya/toxik..tot that was fixed ?
Saran SirikasamsapParticipantid like to see an option of toxik 2011 as a standalone package for 1500USD 🙂
Saran SirikasamsapParticipantflame on mac wud be nice as long as it doesn’t have a crap blackmagic card…hope the reduced prices [if any ] have been well thought out by autodesk, else there wont be money for R&D in the future.
Saran SirikasamsapParticipantexactly..same goes with shake.
Saran SirikasamsapParticipantis there any integration with matchmover ?
Saran SirikasamsapParticipanti think you should use whatever fits your budget and workflow. if u still have a combustion license, and it still does what u need to do, keep using it…..if u need more advanced tools and u know they will not be available anymore, [ kinda like a shake situation ], then move onto another software.
Saran SirikasamsapParticipanttotally agree on that..the competitors [ are there really any ? 😉 ] could die because of their lower prices especially their software subscription IF any.

I’ll respectfully disagree with you on this. I find subscription/support quite reasonable and easy to pay off in the scheme of a business. My combo system subscription is about $4500 USD per app, so paying $375 for continued development of flint is a no brainer. Compare that to other costs at the facility and it’s pretty minor. It’s probably double for flame and that’s still not a huge deal.
I’m happy to pay that amount for continued development on the product, especially at the fast pace of development of the last several years.
Saran SirikasamsapParticipantos X ? nice 🙂
Saran SirikasamsapParticipanthows the new paint ?
Saran SirikasamsapParticipantthat was fun i have to say:)
Saran SirikasamsapParticipanti always import uncompressed QTs OR MPEG1. i believe motion jpeg A works as well.
Saran SirikasamsapParticipanti mean, really, whats the point of comparing systems anymore ? just use the one that works for you and your workflow. i know of places in se asia that are using souped up nuke boxes on commercials with directors present, and they do client presentations via FCP.. whatever works for em..i met one of these guys [owners] last year…he bitched about flame* non stop and finally divulged that its only cos he cant afford it.. so my response to him was, use whatever works for you.
