News Announcement: July 15, 2002 – Impule Inc. spins off Illusion Software: New Owner and New Name officially announced.
It was announced that Impulse Inc, a graphics software developer based in Nevada, will no longer be selling or supporting Illusion, a popular particles software available for both MAC and PC. A new owner and a new name for the software has been announced. Impulse will continue to make and sell their Imagine and Organica software.
The new owner for Illusion is Wondertouch, located in St. Louis, Missouri. Wondertouch is headed by Alan Lorence, the principle programmer behind Illusion since it’s start in 1998. Wondertouch has announced that Illusion will be renamed “Particle Illusion.” Sales and suppoprt have been immediately transfered to the new website: www.wondertouch.com. EMail support is via: [email protected], or [email protected]. All registered users will be receiving an eMail notice of the transfer.
As for the future of Particle Illusion, Wondertouch has announced a committed to making Particle Illusion software better over time. These plans include additional product development, enlarging the community of users, and improved exposure in the marketplace. This was evident with the presence of a dedicated Particle Illusion booth at the recent SIGGRAPH show in Texas.
The new Wondertouch website has extensive resources, including a Gallery, Downloads, Support, associated Links and Tutorials. Also available are Samples, Documentation, Updates and User Submitted Emitter Libraries: This is all loacted at: http://www.wondertouch.com
It is the Particle Illusion software that is integrated with Discreet Combustion Version 2.0 (both Mac and PC.) Combustion v2 User can download additional FREE Particle libraries for use in their systems. The relevant Particle Libraries should be dated AFTER January 2002, since most of the libraries BEFORE that date are already included with the release of Combustion v2. This includes effects such as Abstract, Explosions, Natural, etc. These User Submitted Particle Libraries are generally very nice, but, unfortunately, totally un-organize. However, if you search, you can find some cool new pre-created unique effects since Combustion V2’s release. To Install them, first download a library, then simply use the “Load Library” button in Combustion. Or, you can drop the Illusion library file into the “Particle Libraries” folder in combustion’s program folder and then restart combustion. The new library will be converted and it’ll become another entry in the Library popup list.
