This week on fxguidetv we talk to Upside Down assistant director and 2nd unit director Mario Janelle about his work on the film. To tell the story of two opposing worlds, various camera set-ups were used including a Milo motion-control solution featuring fixed cameras with tracking software, slaved cameras on two different sets shot simultaneously and also teleprompter monitor solutions for characters having to interact.
NB: There is a slight technical frame rate issue on some of the shots of the interviewer (John Montgomery’s first few questions). We hope this does not affect your viewing of this really interesting piece of complex visual effects film making.
I’ve found a VFX Breakdown from Vision Globale for Upside Down : http://wiki-fx.net/upside-down/ … It’s a shame that we have to wait May 2013 to discover this movie in France !
