The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences today announced the films nominated for an Oscar for the 90th Academy Awards.

The Nominees for Visual Effects are:

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI: Ben Morris, Mike Mulholland, Neal Scanlan and Chris Corbould

WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES: Joe Letteri, Daniel Barrett, Dan Lemmon and Joel Whist

The Nominees for Animated Short are:

The 90th Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), will honor the best films of 2017 and will take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California at 5:00 p.m. PST on March 4, 2018.  The ceremony is delayed this year from February when it is normally scheduled to avoid conflicting with the 2018 Winter Olympics. This year there will be 24 categories represented at Academy Awards.  Jimmy Kimmel will return as host for a second consecutive year.
