VES releases “The State of Visual Effects” White Paper

The Visual Effects Society has released a document titled “The State of Visual Effects In the Entertainment Industry”. Written by Renee Dunlop, Paul Malcolm and VES president Eric Roth it covers topics like “Advances in Visual Effects Technology Drive Changes On and Off the Set ” and “Impact on the Bottom Line”.

You’ll find the link after the jump.

“The VES is the foremost knowledge-base in the world concerning visual effects and we feel that we have a unique perspective as to how the work of visual artists and technologists intersect to have a huge impact on the business model bottom line,” said VES Executive Director Eric Roth. “We are very excited to publish this first paper, which will serve as a foundation for future white papers delving into significant issues which face not only our craft, but the entertainment industry as a whole.”

The white paper PDF can be found on the VES website in the upper left corner under VES News. We have not had a chance to thoroughly digest it but it is likely we will try and do a podcast to dig deeper into the subject, stay tuned for that in the coming months.
