Do you think that the advent of desktop PCs becoming faster will have an effect on the future of the highend tools?

I guess its only time though
By the way are you a 5D sales rep? (grin)

August 1, 2002 at 8:07 am #206619AnonymousGuestIt think there will always be a high-end – but it will be on PCs. Cyborg definitely outperforms my Octane 2!
August 2, 2002 at 9:57 pm #206623goranParticipantOnly future which is certen, is that this forum should be renamed in “Cyborg – selfmarketing”. Obiously I was only idiot succesfully fooled with “Flinf/Flame/Inferno” title. This looks more like Flint/Flame/Inferno “resistance” to me, excuse my French.

Ouch! Yes I am impressed with Cyborg, but why not – we are going to buy. I don’t get the rabid anti- anything-but-Discreet attitude here. Why can’t we like other systems? Methinks you doth protest too much – are you in the pay of Discreet?
August 6, 2002 at 6:31 pm #206614AnonymousGuestok people,
too much advocacey for the 5d cyborg, ya in terms of hardware it’s not bad, the software has a long way to go with userinterface issues, and overall capabilites. The future isn’t 5d cyborg. Something new that actually combines the operating system of the IQ for speed with software that is node based with all the capabilities and flexibilities of the inferno would make more sence.
This is what I see for the future.August 6, 2002 at 6:45 pm #206615AnonymousGuestwith regards to that first question, ya pc’s will take over as far as hardware but they will be special high end pcs that use souped up operating systems (that is what the IQ is). In terms of software, whomever adapts the fastest, with all and more capabilities of todays best compositing software wins.
August 6, 2002 at 6:48 pm #206616AnonymousGuestnote: the last two annonymouse messages are from a different person than the one at the top that says check out cyborg.
Nope, I am one who pays, all the time … I spended lot of money on 5d monsters too, and I am looking on Cyborg and Colossus (specialy) very closely …
But, why this forum must be used for such open Cyborg marketing? I like IQ, Shake, AFX, but what this got to do with Discreet ? Doesnt 5d have some mail list or forum for Cyborg users and promotors to share their ideas ? This things are important, and they are called support, important thing after you spend bunch of dollars on something. And not so important in phase of ‘wouldnt be nice to have this new expensive toy, and show my rebel spirit to ‘old goat”.
Again, nothing against Cyborg, or anything else, but “rumors” seams more apropriate for such talks. Who would anybody dare to ask anything about FFI here if every mention of Discreet will start new round of ‘why I love Cyborg’ saga (just look at this forum titles in last few months) ?Goran
August 20, 2002 at 1:38 pm #206617AnonymousGuest‘why I love Cyborg’ saga It’s too much realy. That’s supposed to be Flint/Flame/Inferno forum.NO?
August 22, 2002 at 2:34 pm #206618AnonymousGuestMaybe If we ask nicely the forum moderators could create a new Cyborg forum so this one could be for FFI issues only.
I also find it quite annoying with responses blatantly promoting Cyborg or any other system to answer serious questions. Althoug the original question in this thread didn’t really concern FFI.
So, please could someone create a Cyborg forum!?
