fxguide LIVE’05 edit

For the first time, the fxguide crew has created a session geared towards editors. It will cover a wide range of tips and tricks, an overview of the keyers in smoke/fire, how to best use the soft-import and export features, and workflow suggestions to make your editing life easier. We will have two guest presenters at the event. Brian Reid is a fire visual effects artist at Technicolor Creative Services in Toronto. Michael Ruzicka is a Senior Smoke Artist and Post Production Director of CBS/UPN/Viacom Boston. They’ll bring their respective experience in the post and broadcast markets to the event.

Back by popular demand, the 3rd annual event for flame artists will also cover wide range of tips and tricks, focusing on many of the new features in version 6/9. Items we’ll be covering include how to get the most out of clip history and segment fx, the distort module, 3D LUTS, and soft-import/export workflow. Once again Philippe Soeiro, the honorary 4th member of the fxguide live crew, will be presenting at the event. Philippe’s experiences working at Eclair Laboratoires in Paris brings oustanding insights into digital film workflow as well suggestions applicable to all artists.

Who should go?

This training is aimed at experienced Discreet flame, inferno, flint, fire, and smoke users…artists very familiar with the software as it stands today. It will cover a range of special tips and workflow management issues aimed at allowing senior users to get the most out of their software. It will not cover system admin or configuration issues. The training will be fast and high level, with secondary training aids.

Are numbers limited?

Yes. Due to space considerations, numbers are limited. When you register for either of the fxguide live events, you will be automatically registered for the Discreet User Group meeting as well.

We look forward to seeing you again in Las Vegas on April 17th. We’d like to thank Discreet and SGI for their generous support.
