NAB ’03 FXGuide Live & the User Group Meeting

Well NAB 2003 got off to a fast start with the first FXGuide Live event followed by the Discreet User Group Meeting. A big thank you to all who attended our inaugural event, as well as your support. We really enjoyed the opportunity to create a user session at NAB — the questions and interaction from the audience was great.

In the Florentine Ballroom, right below the Discreet user group meeting, 150 senior Flame, Flint and Inferno artists gathered on Sunday afternoon to attend the first user run tips and techniques FXGuide Live event. What they got was a jam packed session of speakers and visuals covering the new version 5/8 Inferno and Flame software.

The event was a success — we were a bit nervous being first-timers. From user comments, popular highlights were the sections on feature film proxy workflow, the new batch and camera mapping using projectors. As every speaker had not only the output of Flame projected via an impressive HD Barco video projector but also a second high res video projector with animated screen closeups and detailed shots, the crowd was able to see both live explanations and have detailed tips simulateously.

Here is a sample of the comments submitted so far by fellow users who attended:

“I find fxguide just as important as some of the tools in our arsenal… just like sparks

“At last I get it. The MK or as we call it the ‘complikeyer’ was demystified”

“Simply the best, it’s wonderful that people of such calibre are able to share with us”

“I have been to a lot of seminars – this one was exceptionally well layed out and prepared”

“This event will last the whole year. The camera linked with projectors to make flat artwork come to life was incredible to see and its a trick I’ll be using on my clients on Tuesday!”

Following the event was the Discreet User Group Meeting.
