The Pixel Farm, a new company focused on innovation in the field of high-end digital post-production, announces today that it is to release a student and academic licensing scheme for future Pixel Farm products.
The first product covered by the scheme will be PFTrack, the a revolutionary 3D camera extraction application, which will be available to students and academic institutions for £50. The educational versions of PF Products will be fully functional but cannot be used for commercial projects.
“We understand Students need to have access to technology and can’t afford to spend a fortune on software.” Richard Spöhrer, Managing Director of The Pixel Farm stated. “We have all been students and want to work with colleges to provide tools and technologies to allow students to work at the cutting edge of our industry.”
In order for students to qualify for the program a representative or lecturer of their college must register with The Pixel Farm and then they must provide proof of their status who will then provide proof of status and act as a single point of contact for support. The student licence will then allow them to use the software for non-commercial purposes for the duration of their course with a 6 month extension for the production of show reels. A discounted upgrade will then be offered at the end of this period.
PFTrack will be available for Linux, MacOSX, IRIX and Windows in April May 2003 costing £3000 for a full commercial license and £50 for a student or academic licence.
The Pixel Farm was formed in 2002 to provide innovative solutions for digital composting. Based in the UK, with a very strong focus on research and development, The Pixel Farm work with customers on key projects to ensure PF products match the needs of the production environment.
