Atomic Fiction

2011 gets off to a great start with the launch of a new visual effects company, Atomic Fiction, based in Emeryville, California. Co-founders Kevin Baillie, (president and vfx supervisor), Ryan Tudhope (creative director and vfx supervisor) and Jenn Emberly (performance and animation supervisor), are all former employees of ImageMovers Digital.

We are intrigued to learn more, as their web site mentions that they are “embracing new technologies such as peer-to-peer data synchronization, Amazon EC2 cloud rendering and a completely web-based production tracking environment.” The company claims to offer a cloud computing infrastructure and a “commitment to merging modern technology with old-fashioned service that truly sets us apart from the rest”.

Atomic Fiction’s web site has much more information, including job listings – www.atomicfiction.com; follow them on twitter at @atomicfiction. Make sure you check out their blog as well, one of the first posts humorously addresses abuses of glows in compositing.

There is also an article on the new company by Carolyn Giardina in The Hollywood Reporter.
