The Foundry MARI 1.1 on Windows & Linux LA Launch
1 December 2010, 7pm to 9.30pm (registration starts at 6pm)
Ben Kittay Studio, Stage 15 – Gnomon School of VFX, 1015 Chauenga Blvd, Hollywood, 90038

We’ve got three fantastic guest presenters to show us how they’ve been putting MARI through it’s paces in the real world of production. Brandon Fayette & Jake Raymor from Bad Robot Productions will show us their hard surface and organic structure painting techniques live. Scott Metzger from Method Studios showing how MARI was used on the latest Lexus Commercial and Brad deCaussin from Digital Domain. Brad used MARI extensively on Avatar at Weta Digital. Now at Digital Domain, one of the first studios to adopt MARI, Brad will be showing us some past and present uses of MARI in production.

MARI is a creative texture-painting tool that can handle extreme projects. MARI was developed at Weta Digital to handle the massively complex, highly detailed look development work demanded of the texture department by projects such as District 9, The Lovely Bones, and Avatar.
MARI has a creative toolset which puts many stand-alone 2D paint systems to shame, allowing artists to concentrate on painting.

MARI 1.1 for Windows and Linux adds FBX Camera import, TGA support, a smart selection tool, canvas toolbar, perspective view, a normal shader and dramatically improved performance. Check out the release notes to find out more.
