Artist in Action: Deb Ristic
Deb Ristic is a Flame designer & storyboard artist at Modern Digital in Seattle, Washington. She joinned from BB&J, Los Angeles, where she was working on visual effects for such television series as Third Watch. Ristic works extensively with both Painter software for concept art and storyboarding, and follows projects through to Flame compositing.
Road Test: Sapphire Sparks in Combustion

Nuke Forum added
We have added a Nuke forum to the site for discussion of Nuke from D2 Software. 2003 High Definition : A Year in Review

Discreet Introduces combustion 3 for the Mac
As we first reported last year, discreet has introduced combustion 3 for Apple Macintosh. The release includes new expressions, an editing operator, and flash output among other advances.
Matrix at AEAF

Discreet opts to support Sony new SR format

dvMatte: A FCP Keyer for everyman and his dog
dvMatte pro 1.5 is a plug-in keyer for Final Cut Pro (FCP). The keyer is designed to solve the tricky problem of keying mini-dv footage. FXG took the dvMatte for a road test, and we were impressed with the results.
Xstoner: Product test drive
Xstoner is a client-server software that allows PCs and Macs to directly connect and transfer files with a discreet system such as Flame/Inferno or Fire etc.
We took a system for a test drive and put it to the test. We were provided with a Mac OSX software and ran it connected to an Onyx 2 Inferno system. We tested using the latest Mac OS X Panther software, which caused more than a few interesting effects.

Exclusive: combustion 3 on OSX
Rumour over the last several months was that discreet was considering the future of combustion for the Macintosh. Today we can officially confirm that Combustion 3 will be available for the G5 under the next planned Mac OSX release, Panther (10.3).

Burn, baby burn! Discreet ships Burn
Distributed rendering for the discreet effects products was first demonstrated at the NAB Discreet Users Group meeting several years ago. It has taken a couple of years, but version 1.0 of burn running on Red Hat 8.0 has been released. Burn gives artists the ability to render flint, flame, and inferno batch setups (including action within batch) on network-connected systems running Linux Red Hat 8.0.
